The class runs for 6 weeks on Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at the Portland Gear Hub Bike School. The Bike School is a dedicated program and class space with 5 benches, stands, and bike-specific tools. There will be a mix of class and bench time to work on your own bikes! This MTB-specific edition will dig into suspension systems, dropper seatposts, and disc brakes. A modern mtb is a requirement for this session of the class.
Week 1: Basic Balance – Overview of Bike Systems & Tubeless Tire Setups
Week 2: Make It Stop! – The Braking System
Week 3: Shifty Characters – The Shifting System
Week 4: Make it Go – The Drivetrain System (Chain & Gears)
Week 5: Spinning and Bouncing – Bearing and Suspension Systems
Week 6: Round & Round – Wheel Truing & “Leftovers”
Class fee is $200 for the series. Class size is small with only 5 students. Students will receive access to high quality bike-specific tools and one-on-one instruction from some of Portland’s finest bike mechanic instructors!
