Kids Bike Party

The Portland Gear Hub hosts 3 one-day events throughout the summer for kids ages 11 and under (or shorter than 5′ / 1.5m) to earn a bike at no cost. At each Kids Bike Party, kids walk through different stations learning about bike safety and helmet fit before earning their newly refurbished bike.

Eligible kids include those whose families are enrolled in our Bikes for All Mainers program (this year or past participants) as well as any family without the economic means to purchase a bike from a local bike shop.

  • Sign-up in advance. We have 100 kids bikes available, but spots fill up quickly.
  • Adults/Guardians must be present with child in order for child to participate
  • If you have a child older than 11, please check out our Bikes for All Mainers program available to ages 12+
  • Kids will be fitted to a helmet during the event in order to test out their newly earned bikes!

How does it work?

  • Sign-up for each child individually (1 sign-up per child).
  • Parent/ guardian must fill out registration.

Help us fund Kids Bike Parties in 2023!

A $30 donation sponsors a kid earning a free bike and helmet this season. In 2022, 112 youth successfully earned a new bike and helmet. Our goal for 2023 is to reach 100 kids again!

Donate $30 to Sponsor 1 Kids Bike

Volunteering is another way to support Kids Bike Parties. Volunteers help us build program bikes and help fit kids to the correct bike and helmet during the event.
