All donations are tax-deductible and can be dropped off during open hours at the Portland Gear Hub shop at 155 Washington Ave. We are open Tuesday – Friday 11 AM – 6 PM and Saturdays 10 AM – 4 PM.
Gear We Accept
- Bicycles (year round!)
- Bulk drop-offs – please call to arrange a drop-off if you plan to bring 5 or more bikes
- Bike components and accessories
- XC skis, boots, and poles
- Snowshoes
- Winter apparel (October – March 1)
- Outdoor apparel (top layers)
- Tents with all pieces included (tent body, working poles, rainfly)
- Sleeping bags and sleeping pads
- Backpacks
Conditions of Gear We Do Not Accept
- We are unable to accept single-use bicycles as they often cannot be repaired.
- This includes adult and geared bikes from the following brands: Next, Roadmaster, Pacific, Free Spirit, Huffy and others.
- We don’t accept visibly rusty wheels
- We do not accept worn tires past their reuse point.
- If you would like to recycle your tires with us (we work with a local company to recycle all tires and tubes), we ask that you contribute $1/tire towards our efforts to keep rubber out of the landfill! Thanks!
- We do not accept cotton or cloth sleeping bags, such as Coleman bags, for car camping
- Worn out footwear of any kind for safe outdoor use. No sneakers.
- Car Racks: We do not accept any car racks that are missing hardware, missing the key, or are more than 10 years old.
- We do not accept any roof racks.

- Helmets
- E-Bikes
- Team Sporting Goods (cleats, pads, etc)
- Golfing equipment
- Air Mattresses
- Fuel Canisters
- Rollerblades
- Ice Skates
- Exercise Equipment, including bike trainers
- Bike travel cases – they’re just too big to store!
- Wetsuits, PFDs (personal flotation devices)
- Non-outdoor specific apparel
- Any pants, shorts, or undergarments including socks
- Anything with lithium ion batteries that is 5 years or older
- Downhill skis
- Climbing gear
