Director Portland Gear Hub – Job Description

Ketcha Outdoors is seeking a bicycle visionary, and passionate leader with outstanding organizational, management, and community-building skills to become the Director of the Portland Gear Hub. The Director will oversee all aspects of operations, staff, and volunteers at our non-profit community bike shop including managing our retail and donation-processing center and bike school in Portland, Maine. The Director will be a senior member of the leadership team and will be responsible for advancing our mission to provide equitable access to the outdoors and gear. The Director will assist with implementing our strategic plan and will help grow the funding and capacity needed to advance our mission. The Director will be an employee of Ketcha Outdoors and will report to the Executive Director but will work on-site from the shop in Portland.

Inventory and Ordering Coordinator

The Inventory and Ordering Coordinator at the Portland Gear Hub is a full-time position, (32 –35 hours/ week) that reports directly to the Gear Hub Director and works closely with the entire staff.

The primary responsibility of the Inventory and Ordering Coordinator is to manage and maintain our new inventory supply at the Garage and Bike School, including components for bike builds and service, as well as appropriate merchandising for the retail floor.

The Gear Hub is a cooperative and fast-paced work environment that necessitates multi-tasking and flexibility. PGH employees work together with volunteers to serve a diverse population of customers and program participants. This position will be based out of our retail location at 155 Washington Ave, Portland. Occasional shifts may include travel to the Bike School, and seasonally to our XC Ski Rental Hut in Oxford, ME.

Summer Part-Time Customer Service/ Mechanic

We are hiring for Fridays 9:45am-6pm and Saturdays 9:30am – 4:15pm in the summer.
The part-time Customer Service and Mechanic position at the Portland Gear Hub includes
greeting individuals at our retail location and being able to address their questions and needs
whether it is information about a program, volunteering, donating, or seeking our retail and
repair services.

We are seeking someone who is passionate about the outdoors, social justice, and building
community. Experience in a retail environment, bike and outdoor shop, or another public-facing
role is preferred, but not required. Training will be provided to the right candidate willing and
excited to learn!
